RadeonHD 1.0

Mit etwas Verspätung ist RadeonHD 1.0 erschienen. Die Feature-Liste liest sich reichlich beeindruckend, 3D-Support für R5xx/R6xx fehlt allerdings noch.

Die Arbeit an dem freien Treiber fördert interessante Details über das Innenleben der ATI/AMD-Karten zutage, vor allem in Punkto AtomBIOS. O-Ton Egbert Eich:

“Using AtomBIOS will probably work in the majority of cases but numerous users might run into problems which are hard to control as control over a released BIOS is very limited.
Thus we expect that using AtomBIOS – although very compelling from a distance – may lead into a workaround nightmare.”
